Cardiac Calcium Scoring

Advanced Imaging of Port Charlotte is pleased to also offer Cardiac Calcium Scoring, a fast, non-invasive method used to detect the presence and extent of early coronary artery disease even before symptoms occur. With Calcium Scoring, we can detect heart disease when the coronary arteries are only 5% calcified instead of when they are more than 70% calcified as with traditional testing. Calcium Scoring is performed with a computed tomography (CT) scanner and takes less than 5 minutes. After your exam, our Board Certified Radiologist will consult with you immediately following your exam.

Please keep in mind, Calcium Scoring is recommended for people with risk factors for heart disease, not for those currently being treated for heart disease. Talk to your doctor to find out if calcium scoring makes sense for you.

A physician’s order is required for this exam and your results will be forwarded to him/her.
