“Center of Excellence” isn’t a slogan. It’s the American College of Radiology’s prestigious designation that is reserved for the best of the best. To be named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, Advanced Imaging of Port Charlotte must be fully accredited — and then some.
The excellence equation works like this: Staff education and training + state-of-the-art equipment + advanced credentials + on-going education + annual independent evaluations = the ability to seek the honor.
“After that, it’s a scrupulous evaluation that weighs a wide range of factors,” said Kristen Albertson of Advanced Imaging. “As a team and as individual professionals, we have undergone peer review by the American College of Radiology. The college conducted evaluations to confirm that we maintain the highest practice standards in the imaging field – full accreditation across a spectrum of breast-imaging services. In real terms, that means our image quality, personnel, facility, and quality procedures meet the very best standards across the board.”
Across-the-board excellence means Advanced Imaging does mammography and more: “To be a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence we maintain and advance our national accreditation in a comprehensive array of inter-related services,” Albertson said. “These begin with mammography, of course, and extend to stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.”
